Registered Veterinary Technician  

Full-time and part-time available

San Luis Obispo, CA

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay range from $30 - $34 / hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.   

Mission Animal Hospital is looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

About You  

Role Responsibilities:   

Include but are not limited to: 

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients. 
• With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow. 
• Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians. 
• Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments. 
• Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems. 
• Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts. 
• Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs. 
• Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members. 

Experience & Skills Requirements:

• Minimum of 2-years of experience as a Veterinary Technician
• Experience in dental procedures is strongly preferred
• Current California Veterinary Technician license (RVT) required
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to explain doctor recommendations and treatment plans
• Fleixible schedule availability
• Self-motivated and strong organizational skills
• Collaborative team player with a positive attitude

Mission Animal Hospital is a small animal practice located in San Luis Obispo, providing full-service medical, dental, and surgical care. We use the best of both  traditional and therapies -- such as herbs, homeopathy, and nutrition-- to optimize our pet's health.
