Physical Therapist I - Neonatal Therapy

We are seeking a dynamic, motivated, and team‑oriented Physical Therapist I to join our neonatal therapy team in our Level IV NICU. This position primarily serves the neonatal patient population, with occasional follow‑up on pediatric floors and in the Special Infant Care Clinic. The patient caseload will be complex and variable. The Physical Therapist is expected to demonstrate strong assessment, critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills. They should be proficient at treatment planning, therapeutic interventions, and collaboration within the multidisciplinary team, consistent with the position’s requirements, professional practice guidelines and ethical standards. In addition, this role may serve as faculty for the NICU PT Fellowship program, in collaboration with the other members of the multidisciplinary neonatal team. Schedule Monday – Friday with rotating weekends and holidays. Preferred Qualifications Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Pediatric Physical Therapy through APTA Graduate of ABPTRFE‑accredited NICU fellowship Level IV NICU experience preferred Summary The Physical Therapist I provides evidence‑based evaluation, treatment interventions, and educational instruction to patients and caregivers with various diagnoses, disabilities, and impairments affecting multiple body regions, structures, systems, functional mobility, and activity participation. The clinician provides student shadowing, clinical instruction, and participates in departmental and community continuing education and outreach. Responsibilities Completes physical therapy documentation, billing, and statistics per team guidelines. Manages daily caseload with efficiency and efficacy. Meets productivity standards per team guidelines. Administers tests and measures to assist in establishing a plan of care and interventions and manages resources to accomplish patient goals; communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care. Mentors assistive personnel and delegates responsibilities as per licensing board guidelines. Provides clinical precepting and teaching for students and/or staff under the guidance of the clinical specialist or other subject matter experts. Provides regular feedback, coaching and mentoring. Evaluates the learner’s performance. Assists in the planning and coordinating of clinical programs in collaboration with the clinical specialist or manager. Participates in continuous improvement in clinical services by attending and participating in departmental meetings and in‑services. Education Requirements Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program. Licensure and Certification Requirements Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the state of North Carolina. BLS within 3 months of hire date. Experience Requirements No prior experience required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Exhibits effective communication and interprofessional skills; requires physical stamina and repetitive movements, including, but not limited to, sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, and squatting during patient interventions while supporting one’s weight; can engage in high‑level problem‑solving to ensure patient safety during mobilization.
