Hospitalist Physician Assistant

Seeking a full-time Medical Hospitalist Physician Assistant to provide inpatient medical care, including H&Ps, follow-ups, and discharge planning for patients ages 5 and up in Anchorage, Alaska.

• Initial H&Ps for psychiatric patients in the psych hospital. The patient complexity is high, however, no procedures, diagnosing, delivering treatment plans, etc. are necessary. You can order labs, imaging, and a narrow list of other ancillaries but it is limited in scope.
• Position type: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant.
• Setting: Inpatient behavioral hospital .
• Flexible Schedule: 7on/7off block, 10 hour shift
• Ages 5+
• Full-time or part-time available.
• Conduct comprehensive medical assessments, including initial history and physicals (H&Ps) within 24 hours of admission, follow-ups, and discharge planning.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and support staff to create integrated treatment plans addressing medical and mental health needs.
• Co-manage patients with complex medical comorbidities alongside mental health providers.
• Educate patients and families on medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle adjustments to enhance overall health.
• Provide medical consults and recommend diagnostic tests and treatments as needed.
• Deliver emergency care within your licensure scope until specialized care is available.

Requirements

1. Licensure: Active Alaska Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant license or the ability to obtain licensure prior to start.
2. Education: Completion of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program.
3. Certification: AANPCB, ANCC, or NCCPA board certification.

Experience:

• Prior clinical experience in an inpatient or acute care setting preferred; behavioral health experience a plus.
• New graduates with relevant clinical training and strong interest in behavioral health will be considered.
