Charter Steel is hiring a Production Manage r at our Saukville WI location! Job Summary: Supervise employees and operations to manufacture product while optimizing safety, quality, teamwork, productivity, costs, and customer service. Ensure all environmental and safety policies and programs are upheld. Lead the overall vision and direction for daily manufacturing operations designed to meet production schedules, customer demand, inventory control, equipment efficiency, materials flow, while meeting quality requirements with an effective manufacturing process. Foster the Charter Valued Behaviors among employees. Position specifics : Location : Saukville WI Schedule : First shift, Monday thru Friday , with ability to support 24/7 operations ad hoc Travel Requirement: less than 10% Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. Charter Manufacturing is unable to sponsor for employment visas at this time. Key responsibilities: Foster a culture to drive Charters core values of trust, teamwork, safety and CI through employee engagement Leverage Charters OpEx system to drive KPIS and accountability through Gemba , coaching , disciplined problem solving , and other CI tools Identify opportunities and partner with our safety professionals to improve safety; eliminate any unsafe operations and ensure a safe and clean production environment. Maintain records, reports, Targets to Improve (TTI), and KPIs as required for the operation. Actively review performance results with team including actions for improvement. Establish an organized and systematic approach to the operational needs of the plant by managing staffing, equipment, and training needs to produce a quality product in a safe, effective, and efficient manner. As a member of the core management team responsibilities include: developing long term strategic planning and executing Developing your team in leadership and accountability through coaching, mentoring and frequent meaningful conversations Partner with Human Resources for training needs through OJT D evelop a training strategy to deliver business metrics Participate in developing and managing the budget for the plant. Continually identify, plan, and initiate methods to improve productivity, quality, maintenance, and reduce cost in the operation by focusing on Continuous Improvement activities as they relate to reducing waste in the process, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), asset utilization, and reduced equipment downtime. Provide operational direction and leadership to supervision and hourly workforce. Administer policies and procedures in a fair , timely and consistent manner. Ensure compliance with all Environmental, Quality and Safety Management System procedures and requirements. Ability to meet the essential job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation, as outlined in the job description. What youll need: Bachelors Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience. Seven plus years experience in a heavy manufacturing environment. Three plus years supervisory/leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated abilities in planning, delegation, communications, problem solving, and decision making. Demonstrated experience using OpEx to deliver continuous improvement, cost reduction , and process improvement. Experience with managing safety management systems to reduce incidents, exposures and elimination Demonstrated experience in fostering a culture of team work including cross functional teams to, coach, motivate, lead and develop direct reports. Proficient in the basic features of Microsoft Office software products. Ability to support a 24/7 operations as need Nice to have s: Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or other Continuous Improvement activity. Experience working with steel or steel products or related. Maintenance experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
