Student Assistant

Positions exist in Computer Services at Porterville Developmental Center.


Assist the Information Technology Specialists with help desk duties, installation and removal of hardware and software, repair of computer systems, and assist in the troubleshooting of the network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, WiFi, and other networked systems.

Working Conditions
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance and sensory ability to perform the duties contained within the duty statement.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Information Technology office environment. Will visit offices throughout the campus, minimal to no interaction with clients. On occasion may need to go into dusty areas like mechanical rooms.

Department Information
The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.


These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
