Seasonal Work Schedule This is a seasonal position. Employment for the 2026 season will begin in May, with an anticipated first day of work on or around May1–2. Pre‑season onboarding may occur in April as scheduled by Human Resources. Essential Functions Assist in all recreation areas, such as pool, boats, mini golf, shuffleboard, pickleball, and tennis courts. Assist the Recreation Supervisor in advertising and coordinating tournaments such as regatta races, shuffleboard, mini golf, volleyball, etc. Accurately operate the cash register, process transactions, and handle payments in accordance with company procedures. Assist guests with watercraft rental to include canoes, kayaks, wind boards. Retrieve and store all recreation equipment at the end of the day. Maintain recreation equipment to ensure it is in good working order daily; perform end‑of‑shift cleaning and general maintenance. Monitor the pool deck and bathhouse area and attend to guest needs. In the event of an emergency, be certified and able to perform CPR and/or First Aid, rescue boat operation; lifeguard preferred. Routinely monitor recreation area(s) for cleanliness, including pool, bathhouse, restrooms, beach area, mini golf course, tennis courts, shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pits, volleyball and basketball courts, and any other assigned recreation area. Sweep or blow leaves off all courses, courts and pits. Monitor horseshoe pits and shuffleboard courts for weeds, and pull weeds as necessary. Possess excellent hospitality skills and a strong desire to foster an attitude of Christian hospitality to exceed guest expectations. Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures and report any unsafe activities or conditions immediately to supervisor or Human Resources. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and required to assure the success of Lake Junaluska mission and purposes. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities One year relevant experience in camp recreation/hospitality strongly desired. CPR/First Aid certification; reimbursement or on‑the‑job certification offered. Valid driver’s license. Lifeguard certification preferred. Ability to communicate with Recreation Supervisor through email, text or phone. Positive attitude and put guests’ needs as a top priority. Good communication skills, client relation skills and commitment to responsive and conscientious customer service. Flexible and able to adapt to changing needs, multiple task demands, and work structures. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, emails, and memos. Ability to effectively present job‑related information upon request to customers, clients and employees of the organization. Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of customer, client and employee questions. Willingness to work a flexible schedule. Working Conditions Moderate to heavy physical activity performing strenuous and non‑strenuous activities with moderate to loud noise. Primarily working outdoors exposed to elements such as heat, sun, cold, snow, rain and wind. Coordinating work, continuously moving about, able to stand for prolonged periods, walk, sit. Manual dexterity to handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel. Ability to talk to and hear staff and customer requests and lift or move objects weighing up to 75 pounds. Must have adequate vision with good peripheral vision necessary. Work schedule: Recreation area open Monday–Sunday, including nights, weekends and holidays as required.
