Heart Transplant Fellowship Opportunity in Pennsylvania
Overview of the Position:

- Position: Heart Transplant Surgeon
- Employment Type: Full-time
Our organization is seeking a Heart & Lung Transplant Fellow to engage in specialized training across two high-volume services. The fellow will assist in the Heart and Lung Transplant services, gradually taking on more responsibilities towards achieving independence under the guidance of the co-chiefs of the division. This fellowship is structured around rotations. Besides surgical duties, the fellow will also act as a teaching assistant for junior cardiothoracic fellows and residents, contributing to bedside instruction, case-based learning, and organized educational sessions.
Main Responsibilities
- Oversee daily management of heart and lung transplant inpatients, which includes pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care, as well as ICU rounds and discharge planning.
- Facilitate multidisciplinary care in collaboration with transplant cardiology, pulmonology, advanced heart and lung failure teams, ECMO/VAD services, infectious diseases, pharmacy, physical therapy/occupational therapy, social work, and care management.
- Engage in organ offers/list management, selection conferences, operative planning, and participation in the operating room for transplant and related procedures.
- Contribute to quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives within the transplant programs.
- Participate in on-call duties as assigned.
