Financial Controller - Real Estate

Base pay range $150,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr Macdonald & Company has been exclusively retained by a privately held, growth-oriented real estate investment and development firm to appoint a Financial Controller to lead all accounting and finance functions across the organization. Key Responsibilities Manage general ledger and financial records for multiple entities, including oversight of third-party accounting providers. Lead accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports. Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies; liaise with external auditors and tax advisors. Consolidate financial statements for internal and investor reporting; coordinate with audit and tax teams. Manage corporate budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis to support decision-making. Oversee investor capital accounts, preferred return calculations, and investor reporting. Provide financial oversight on acquisitions, dispositions, and development transactions, including due diligence support. Handle property-level reporting, reconciliations, and financial compliance requirements. Lead annual budgeting, projection, and reporting cycles. Oversee payroll processing and coordinate with HR on benefits administration and compensation analysis. Evaluate, implement, and integrate accounting systems and process improvements. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; advanced degree a plus. 7+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the real estate sector. Strong knowledge of GAAP; exposure to tax matters advantageous. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with real estate accounting software.
