Activity Therapist (Recreational Therapist)

Job Description Job Description We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Activity Therapist to join our team. In this role, you will develop and implement therapeutic activity programs designed to support patients' emotional, physical, and social well-being. You will work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including Social Services, to enhance patient recovery through structured and engaging activities. Key Responsibilities * Plan and facilitate therapeutic activities such as art, music, exercise, and group sessions * Assess patient needs and develop individualized activity plans * Monitor patient participation and document progress * Collaborate with nursing staff and Social Services to support patient care goals * Maintain a safe and supportive environment for all patients * Adapt activities based on patient condition and abilities Schedule & Program Structure * Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (8-hour shift) * Department: Reports to Social Services * Group Schedule: * * Morning session: 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM * Afternoon session: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM * The Activity Therapist will facilitate two (2) group sessions per day * Each group session is 30 minutes in duration * Total direct group facilitation time is approximately 1 hour per day, with remaining time dedicated to planning, documentation, and patient engagement DirectShifts is an Equal Opportunity Employer All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
