Pelican Tax CPA is hiring a Senior Tax Preparer to join our team on-site at our St. Petersburg office. This is a year-round, full-time position for someone who can prepare individual and business tax returns from start to finish with minimal supervision and communicate confidently and professionally with clients.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare individual (Form 1040) and business (1120-S, 1065, 1120) tax returns independently, from client intake through filing
• Communicate directly with clients to gather documentation, ask clarifying questions, and explain their returns and tax positions in plain language
• Review prior-year returns, financial statements, and bookkeeping records for accuracy and completeness
• Identify tax planning opportunities and flag issues for the firm's review
• Stay current on federal and Florida tax law changes affecting our client base
• Collaborate with the rest of the tax team, especially during peak filing season
• Maintain strict client confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics standards, including IRS Circular 230

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of professional tax preparation experience required
• Strong working knowledge of individual and business tax law
• Excellent written and verbal client communication skills
• High standard of professional ethics, judgment, and confidentiality
• Ability to work independently and manage a caseload with minimal oversight
• PTIN required; Enrolled Agent (EA) credential, CPA license (or progress toward one), and experience with UltraTax CS are strong pluses
