Infusion/Triage Nurse

Job Title Registered Nurse II Location Altru Hospital, 1031 7th Street Northeast, Devils Lake, ND 58301 Pay Range $35.49 – $53.23 per hour Job Summary The Registered Nurse II provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the organization. The nurse maintains the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit, coordinates interdisciplinary patient care, and provides education to ensure safe discharge. Responsibilities Perform daily rounds on all patients, delivering quality customer service and addressing any unmet requirements. Develop a plan of care based on assessment, reflecting the patient’s physical, psychological, social, educational, developmental, and rehabilitative needs. Assess the patient’s condition and nursing needs, set goals, and prescribe appropriate nursing actions, including discharge planning. Assess, intervene, and reassess patient self‑report and symptoms of pain promptly; take appropriate action according to standard operating procedures. Identify early warning signs of a change in a patient’s condition and respond appropriately to deterioration, including contacting responsible clinicians. Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patient conditions. Report pertinent observations and reactions to the appropriate multidisciplinary team member and record them accurately and concisely. Ensure intervention or referrals are made promptly. Complete and submit all incident reports (patient, visitor, staff) before the end of each shift. Establish and maintain communication, providing educational opportunities with patients and significant others. Begin discharge planning, education, and counseling early to optimize patient/family understanding. Evaluate and document care according to standard operating procedures. Assign or delegate nursing interventions within scope of practice to individuals with the necessary skills and competence. Perform other duties as assigned or needed to meet department/organization goals. Certification and Licensure Registered Nurse license (North Dakota Board of Nursing or Compact State Agreement) required before start date. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (American Heart Association) required within 90 days of start date. Temporary RN license accepted prior to start. Qualifications Six (6) years or more RN experience. ASN degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Ability to serve as Charge Nurse and Chair or Co‑Chair of Nursing Committee; trained peer interviewer. Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English. Eligible for visa sponsorship; sponsorship is welcomed. Education Requirements Preferred: Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
