Job Title: Grader Operator Job Description

We are seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Grader Operator to join our team at a steel mill in Birmingham, AL. This role involves operating heavy equipment to grade and maintain the steel landfill area on-site. The position is primarily outdoors in a hot, dirty, and active manufacturing environment.

• Operate grader equipment to level and maintain landfill areas used for steel byproducts.
• Drive and maneuver equipment safely across uneven terrain within the facility.
• Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of the grader.
• Work closely with site supervisors to ensure grading meets operational standards.
• Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE at all times.

• Previous experience operating a grader or similar heavy equipment.
• Ability to work in hot, dusty, and physically demanding outdoor conditions.
• Strong attention to safety and detail.
• Must be able to work 40–50 hours per week.

• Experience with excavators, dozers, earthworks, and track hoes.
• Proficiency in heavy equipment operation, including skid steers and grading.
• Reliable transportation to and from the Decatur site.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Birmingham, AL.

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr.
