The California Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board’s Rancho Cordova Office has an opening for a Senior Water Resource Control Engineer (WRCE) (Supervisory) overseeing key regional activities. The position is located at 11020 Sun Center Drive #200, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670.

The Senior WRCE (Supervisory) will be responsible for organizing, coordinating, and directing the work of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Timber Harvest Unit. In this role, the Senior WRCE (Supervisory) will oversee compliance and enforcement activities within the NPDES Program, lead investigations and enforcement actions related to major sanitary sewage spills, and supervise the evaluation of erosion and sediment control measures associated with Timber Harvest and Utility Vegetation Management activities.

Working Conditions

Positions at the Water Boards may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position .

Salary Information - CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. Special Requirements

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Experience with project management tools; strong priority-setting, organizational, and decision-making skills; and the ability to supervise multidisciplinary work.
• Experience with technical and/or scientific writing.
• Experience with NPDES permitting, compliance, and enforcement.
• Experience conducting sanitary sewage spill investigations and leading enforcement actions.
• Experience with evaluating erosion and sediment control in the context of Timber Harvest and Utility Vegetation Management.
• Experience with public speaking and public participation.

Statement of Qualifications (SOQ)

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted along with the State Application and serves as documentation of candidate’ s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. It should be typed, no more than three (3) pages in length, using Arial size 12 pt. font , and normal margins.

The SOQ should discuss your background, knowledge, specialized training, and total work experience as it relates to the duties of the position and desirable qualifications when answering the following questions (please indicate years of experience for each):

1. Describe your experience leading projects, coordinating multiple priorities, and supervising multidisciplinary teams.
2. Describe your experience with NPDES permitting, compliance, and enforcement, including your role in implementing regulatory requirements and resolving compliance issues.
3. Share your experience with erosion and sediment control, including permitting, compliance, inspection, or enforcement activities.
