Registered Nurse (RN)

Summary

The competent Nurse, within a clinical setting, practices independently and exhibits an awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. This role involves providing both routine and complex care, while focusing on long-term goals and plans. The Nurse continues to develop coping strategies for managing clinical contingencies and is skilled at making appropriate assignments and delegating tasks to other healthcare providers to effectively manage clinical situations.

Responsibilities

• Meet expectations of applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provide nursing care in compliance with the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families according to level of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established protocols, while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and offer education to patients, family members, and caregivers, identifying issues and resources as necessary.

Job Requirements

Education/Skills

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Experience

• One year of experience in the related nursing specialty is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• Current BLS certification is required (AHA only).
• Current ACLS certification is required (AHA only).
• RN License in the state of TX or compact is required.

Position Requirements

Education/Skills

• Newly hired experienced RNs must attend orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member, with initial onboarding requirements validated through successful completion of competency validations.
• Newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or specific orientation; skills completion will be achieved with a preceptor at the bedside and documented through tracking software.
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is necessary.

Experience

• One year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.

Work Schedule

This position requires a full-time commitment with shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM.
