What We're Looking ForWe're looking for experienced and credentialed inpatient coders to become an integral part of our team. The ideal candidate for this role possesses high attention to detail and a depth of knowledge in medical terminology. This role is fully remote with a flexible schedule, allowing you to help shape the future of healthcare from your own workspace!What You Will DoAssign diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, and ICD-10-PCS codesAccurately sequence and abstract medical codes from patient records, ensuring precision and adherence to documentationOversee and audit the work of Level 1 & 2 Coders, where applicableChampion documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues, facilitating resolution with relevant stakeholdersUphold an overall 95% coding accuracy rate and a 95% accuracy rate for MS-DRG assignmentsMaintain a minimum production of 1 chart per hour or site-specific productivity benchmarksFoster professional communication with colleagues, management, and hospital staff, while addressing clinical and reimbursement issuesOccasionally travel for professional development or meetings, if requiredWhat You Need to SucceedA minimum of 3 years of inpatient coding facility experienceCCS, RHIT, or RHIA preferredStrong verbal and written communication skillsWhat Helps You Stand OutAssociate or Bachelor's degree from an AHIMA-certified HIM or Nursing Program, or completion of a certificate program from AAPC with a preference for CCSLevel 1 trauma facility experienceExperience in computerized encoding and abstracting softwareWhat We OfferBenefits for PRN employees: 401k savings plan w/matchEquipment: monitor, laptop, mouse, headset, and keyboardComprehensive training led by a credentialed professional coding managerExceptional service-style management and mentorship (we're in this together!)Pay ranges for this job title may differ based on location, responsibilities, skills, experience, and other requirements of the role.The estimated base pay range per hour for this role is:$32—$42 USDTo ensure the safety of patients and staff, many of our clients require post-offer health screenings and proof and/or completion of various vaccinations such as the flu shot, Tdap, COVID-19, etc. Any requests to be exempted from these requirements will be reviewed by Datavant Human Resources and determined on a case-by-case basis.
