Title: SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONAL

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent


Reports To: Building Principal & Director of Special Services

Performance Responsibilities:

Special education paraprofessionals will assist in the delivery of educational services prescribed by the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) under the direction of a certified teacher to meet instructional goals and objectives. Duties include, but are not limited to:

1. Assisting students in achieving academic success
2. Follow the directives of the special education teacher or related services personnel.
3. Provide one-on-one or small group assistance to students.
4. Monitor students' behavior for the special education teacher.
5. Prepare materials for instruction.
6. Assist in remediation programs.
7. Assist students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, and other related non-instructional areas.
8. Follow district policy and procedures.
9. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Services, the building principal or superintendent.

Terms of Employment: Wage and length of contract to be determined by the Board.


Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of support personnel.
