You should enjoy solving complex problems, working deep in the details, helping other developers, and owning systems end-to-end. This role also includes being a key part of our weekend on-call rotation, supporting the reliability of our platform.Are you passionate about building reliable, scalable systems? If yes, you're in the right place.What You'll Do:Deploy and support our service infrastructure in KubernetesIdentify the right tools and technologies for major initiatives and then build themHelp other teams and developers design robust and scalable systems.Scale and optimize multiple databasesBuild internal tooling that accelerates developer velocityProvide observability, monitoring, and visibility across our systemsOn-Call Responsibilities (2 rotations per month) - You will participate in a shared on-call rotation, typically 1–2 times per month, covering the period from Friday at 7:00 AM ET through Saturday at 5:00 PM ET.How Our On-Call System WorksYou'll receive full internal training to understand our architecture, operational flows, and incident proceduresDuring your rotation, you are the primary point of escalation for production issuesOn-call is not a daily responsibility, only during your assigned weekendsShifts rotate across the team to maintain balance and avoid burnoutWhat On-Call RequiresStrong understanding of system architecture and cross-service dependenciesPrevious real-world experience in production on-call environmentsAbility to quickly assess incidents, identify scope/root cause, and understand platform impactAbility to classify severity and prioritize response appropriatelyCapability to deploy safe production hotfixes when neededSolid judgment under pressure - especially when operating independentlyOwnership mindset: from detection to mitigation to resolutionWhat You'll Bring:You are located in the New York tri-state area6+ years of experience as an independent backend or infrastructure engineerAbility to design and build scalable, reliable systemsStrong communication skillsHands-on builder mentality — this is a coding role.Experience with:Relational and non-relational databasesMajor Cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure), GCP is an advantageStreaming systemsScaling large systemsMessage queuesMonitoring systems like DataDog, Grafana, GroundcoverCI/CD, GitBonus Skills: Kubernetes and Knative (production experience) & ClickHouseTechnologies We UseDatabases: ClickHouse, MongoDB, Redis, PubSub, Postgres, BigTable, Firestore, SonicDataFlowInfrastructure: Kubernetes, Knative, GCP, Temporal, PulumiLanguages: Node.js, TypeScript, PythonTooling: Git, GitHub, GCP build infrastructure, GitHub ActionsOur Values:We Are Customer Obsessed: From our mission to every detailed project, everything we do is designed to create a positive impact for our customers.We Move (Very!)
