Senior Business Systems Analyst
*Hybrid – Local to Mechanicsville, VA only, please
- The Business Analyst supports the tolling modernization program by performing business and system analysis across microservices, data workflows, and application modernization.
- The BA will develop clear user stories, acceptance criteria, process documentation, and communication materials while collaborating closely with developers, architects, QA testers, and operational teams.
- The role includes light QA support focused on validating requirements and acceptance criteria.
- This position reports to the Development Manager.
- Gather and document business and system requirements for microservices, API workflows, and modernization efforts.
- Create user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, and other structured documentation.
- Collaborate with developers, architects, testers, and operational teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Facilitate clarification sessions to ensure alignment across technical and business stakeholders.
- Use Azure DevOps Boards to manage backlog items and track progress.
- Provide QA support as needed, focused on validating user stories and confirming acceptance criteria.
- Maintain clear communication with stakeholders and project leadership.
- Business and system analysis experience — Required: 7 Years
- Experience creating requirements for APIs and modernization initiatives — Required: 7 Years
- Strong Agile/Scrum experience — Required: 7 Years
- Experience with Azure DevOps Boards — Required: 7 Years
- Ability to write clear user stories and acceptance criteria — Required: 7 Years
- Ability to interpret basic SQL queries and understand relational data structures — Required: 7 Years
- Strong communication and documentation skills — Required: 7 Years
- Experience with microservices.
- Experience working in regulatory or compliance-driven environments.
- Tolling or transportation domain experience.
- User stories and acceptance criteria.
- Process maps and workflow documentation.
- Requirements traceability and QA validation support.
- Support for sprint objectives and cross-team alignment.
- Business and system analysis experience — Required: 7 Years
