Adjunct Lecturer in Law - Counterterrorism, Privacy and Civil Libertiesfor LLM Students

Course Description LAW 866 Counterterrorism, Privacy and Civil Liberties for LLM Students (2 units) This class focuses on the legal and policy issues arising from the U.S. government’s domestic security efforts post‑9/11, including the detection and prevention of attacks or espionage on the U.S. homeland by foreign and domestic terrorists, foreign nations, criminal organizations or other hostile groups. Topics include threat analysis, border and transportation security, NSA and FBI surveillance and counter‑terrorism activities, immigration enforcement, efforts to counter violent extremism and radicalization, detention of terrorism suspects, cybersecurity and foreign meddling in elections. Eligibility & Qualifications Juris Doctor degree and at least five years of practical legal experience, including experience in the course subject matter. Teaching experience preferred. Must be able to teach on campus; instructors must be local. Faculty Appointment Adjunct faculty are employed full‑time in a primary profession elsewhere and typically teach one course per year. In exceptional cases, an adjunct may teach one course per semester if approved by the dean. Training Requirements Harassment Prevention Training at the time of hire and every two years thereafter. Integrity and Accountability Code Training at the time of hire. Information Security training annually. Workplace Violence Prevention Plan training annually. Additional training may be required based on specific job responsibilities. Compensation Base salary range: $2,433.66 – $9,984.65 per semester.
