Assistant Clinical Director

Assistant Clinical Director (BCBA) Position Summary Inner Circle Autism Network (ICAN) is seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Clinical Director (BCBA) to support clinical excellence, staff development, and exceptional outcomes for children with autism and their families. The Assistant Clinical Director (ACD) is a leadership development role designed for Board Certified Behavior Analysts interested in advancing into senior clinical leadership. This position partners closely with the Clinical Director and Senior Clinical Director to ensure the delivery of high-quality Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services, support clinician growth, maintain compliance with payer and regulatory requirements, and promote positive clinical outcomes across the clinic. The ACD serves as both a clinical leader and mentor, providing supervision, training, coaching, and performance support to BCBAs, Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), and Fieldwork Students while maintaining a limited clinical caseload and overseeing approximately 150 rendered service hours. This role requires a strong commitment to evidence-based practice, ethical behavior, quality assurance, clinical mentorship, and operational collaboration. Essential Responsibilities Clinical Leadership Support implementation of ICAN's clinical philosophy and evidence-based ABA practices. Ensure clinical services align with BACB Ethics Code requirements, company standards, payer requirements, and current research. Partner with Clinical Directors and Senior Clinical Directors to monitor quality of care and treatment outcomes. Participate in case reviews and provide guidance regarding programming, treatment planning, and behavior intervention strategies. Assist with determining clinical goodness of fit for client admissions and ongoing services. Support clinic-wide compliance with treatment protocols and quality standards. Model excellence in clinical documentation, ethical decision‑making, and professional conduct. Maintain assigned billable expectations while ensuring exceptional client outcomes. BCBA Supervision and Mentorship Mentor and support BCBAs through clinical coaching and professional development. Assist in developing clinical competency among behavior analysts. Support BCBAs in improving treatment outcomes, authorizations, documentation quality, and performance metrics. Partner with Clinical Directors on clinician development plans and remediation plans when necessary. Provide ongoing feedback regarding skill development, leadership growth, and clinical performance. Help develop future clinical leaders within the organization. Support onboarding and orientation of newly hired clinical staff. Participate in BCBA interview processes and hiring activities. May assist with interviews for Registered Behavior Technicians and other clinical staff. Fieldwork and Training Oversight Support fieldwork trainees pursuing BCBA certification. Assist with implementation of fieldwork supervision requirements and documentation. Facilitate clinical trainings and continuing education opportunities. Contribute to development and dissemination of training materials. Promote ongoing learning through research review, conferences, CEU activities, and clinical collaboration. Ensure staff remain informed regarding current ABA research, treatment methodologies, and best practices. Clinical Quality Assurance Monitor clinical compliance indicators and treatment quality metrics. Review client outcomes and help identify opportunities for improvement. Track clinic performance and participate in organizational reviews. Support implementation of action plans addressing quality concerns. Monitor adherence to program recommendations, behavior plans, and treatment protocols. Evaluate clinical documentation for quality, accuracy, and compliance. Assist in maintaining clinic readiness for audits and reviews. Insurance and Compliance Management Maintain understanding of insurance authorization requirements and medical necessity standards. Ensure clinical documentation supports authorization requests and continued care recommendations. Collaborate with billing, revenue cycle, quality assurance, and operations teams. Assist with insurance reviews, peer‑to‑peer discussions, denials management, and appeals support. Support timely submission of required payer documentation. Respond to requests for additional clinical information. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state regulations, payer requirements, and organizational policies. Assist in fulfilling medical records requests according to regulatory requirements. Incident Management and Risk Reduction Review and respond to incident reports in a timely manner. Analyze trends and identify opportunities for proactive intervention. Collaborate with leadership teams regarding risk management strategies. Support development of corrective action plans when necessary. Escalate concerns appropriately to clinical leadership. Parent and Caregiver Support Partner with clinical teams to address parent concerns professionally and effectively. Participate in caregiver meetings as needed. Help ensure an excellent family experience throughout service delivery. Support effective communication between families and clinical staff. Promote family‑centered treatment planning and collaboration. Clinic Operations Partnership Collaborate closely with Operations Directors and clinic leadership. Support clinic performance, service delivery goals, and growth initiatives. Monitor clinic metrics related to client outcomes, staffing, authorizations, and utilization. Participate in weekly, monthly, and regional leadership meetings. Contribute to strategic initiatives and pilot programs that improve care delivery. Assist with implementation of new clinical and operational processes. Organizational Collaboration Partner with Intake, Human Resources, Operations, Revenue Cycle Management, and Quality Assurance teams. Foster consistency of care and best practices across clinics. Share knowledge and collaborate with Assistant Clinical Directors and Clinical Directors throughout the organization. Support organizational growth and continuous improvement initiatives. Required Qualifications Education and Certification Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification. Active state licensure where required. Minimum of 1 year and 9 months of experience as a BCBA. Experience Experience providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related developmental disabilities. Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating behavior intervention programs. Experience supervising behavioral staff and providing clinical coaching. Experience conducting functional behavior assessments and treatment planning. Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams. Experience supporting a variety of learner profiles and behavioral presentations. Experience using data‑driven decision‑making in clinical practice. Knowledge and Skills Strong understanding of ABA principles and evidence-based interventions. Knowledge of BACB ethical standards and compliance requirements. Physical Requirements Ability to work directly with children in a clinical environment. Ability to safely implement behavior intervention procedures and crisis management strategies when required. Ability to sit, stand, kneel, bend, and move throughout the workday. Ability to lift, carry, and physically support clients as necessary for treatment and safety. Work Schedule Full‑time position. Minimum of 40 hours per week. Must maintain required productivity and billable expectations.
