Senior Product Manager
$140k - $185kLawnStarter
About LawnStarter
LawnStarter is the nation's leading on-demand marketplace for lawn care and outdoor services, doing over $100M in annual bookings. We're expanding beyond lawn care to become the one-stop shop for home services: three brands (LawnStarter, Lawn Love, Home Gnome), one shared platform.
About Product at LawnStarter
Our BHAG: 1+ job per household, every year. Getting there means winning on three fronts at once: more customers, excellent service delivery, and an AI-run company that moves faster than its size should allow. We've organized around those bets as swim lanes: New Customer Acquisition, Deliver Service, and AI & Operating Excellence. Each one holds opportunities big enough to demand real product thinking, not just execution.
We're looking for exceptional product managers to join an exceptional team. Full stop.
The Role
You'll join one of three swim-lane teams (New Customer Acquisition, Deliver Service, or AI & Operating Excellence) with a specific, high-stakes problem to own from day one. These teams are small. Your work shows up in the roadmap immediately, for better or worse. There's no back of a large org to hide in here.
What makes this role different
- Strategic and hands-on at once. We want problem solvers who think about where the business needs to go, then go deep on the customer, the Pro, or the tech (whichever is your specialty) to get there.
- We're hiring across several of our biggest 2026 bets at once. We match the best people we find to wherever they'll create the most leverage, not to whichever req happened to open first.
- AI is how the work gets done here, not a side skill. PMs use Brain, our internal AI system, every day: querying live business metrics without waiting on a data analyst, drafting and refining PRDs, searching the entire codebase to see how something actually works today, mining qualitative signal out of calls and tickets. Think it, and Brain can probably help you do it in minutes, not days.
- High leverage, small teams. Few layers stand between your judgment and what ships.
What You'll Own
- A workstream within a swim lane : full ownership of multiple initiatives tied to a 2026 bet, whether that's customer acquisition, service delivery and retention, or AI-driven operating efficiency.
- Problem definition : turning ambiguous, multi-layered problems into a clear "here's what we're solving and why" that earns cross-functional buy-in.
- Metrics ownership : a specific business metric (conversion, retention, Pro supply, cost-to-serve) you're accountable for moving, not just influencing.
- Cross-functional execution : driving a dedicated engineering/design pod from problem to shipped outcome, including calls on what NOT to build.
- AI-forward workflow : using AI daily in your own work, and pushing your team to find where it compresses timelines too.
Problems to Solve
Delighting customers at scale. Customers love the product, but they expect more: on-time service, consistent quality, competitive pricing, painless changes to what they booked. Which of those problems matters most on the way to "1+ job per household, every year"? And how do you solve it without creating friction somewhere else?
Keeping Pros happy and growing. We only win with the largest network of high-quality Pros who see real value on the platform. Think Uber or DoorDash economics, but for lawn and outdoor pros. That means maximizing earnings, cutting driving and idle time, feeding a steady pipeline of profitable jobs, and clearing out operational headaches. Where's the highest-leverage lever? How do you know?
Acquiring more customers, the right way. Growth is easy if you're willing to overpromise. The hard version: bring in more customers while setting accurate expectations upfront on price, timing, and what's included, so Pros can actually deliver on what was promised. Get it wrong, and you gain a customer but burn a Pro relationship (or lose that customer just as fast). Get it right, and you've built the runway to expand into more services. How do you grow acquisition without setting up the rest of the business to fail?
Building AI experiences customers and Pros can actually feel. AI already runs quietly in the background: pricing, fraud detection, support routing. The next unlock is AI people actually notice. Faster answers. Smarter recommendations. Less friction booking or managing a job. What's the first AI-powered experience that makes someone say "that's actually great," not just "that's automated"?
What Success Looks Like (Year 1)
- You prioritize ruthlessly. The roadmap reflects real judgment about where the leverage is, not just what was requested loudest.
- You've moved metrics. Measurable, attributable progress on the number you own.
- You've created great experiences for customers. The work doesn't just move a number; it makes the product genuinely better to use.
- You're trusted across the org , by engineering, design, data, and partners alike. When you say something's getting done, people believe it, and they start seeking out your judgment before you offer it.
Requirements
Who You Are
AI-native. You use AI daily to move faster: drafting specs, exploring data, prototyping, cutting busywork. You try new capabilities because you're curious, not because someone told you to. Unlikely to be a good fit if you're skeptical of AI or treat it as a novelty.
Exceptional at data, or exceptional at customer taste: truly great at one, and at least good at the other. Some of our best PMs are ruthlessly data-driven, reaching for the number before the opinion. Others build extraordinary product taste by living inside customer and Pro feedback until they can predict what people want before the data confirms it. Either path works. What doesn't work is being moderately competent at both and exceptional at neither.
A structured thinker in unstructured situations. You dig into problems before jumping to solutions, asking the questions that turn a simple-looking ask into the real problem underneath. If you're most comfortable executing a well-defined spec rather than defining one, this isn't the seat for you.
An excellent communicator who says no with reason. Core to this job: articulating the problem, earning buy-in in writing, and saying no to good ideas that just aren't right now. That means carving out time to think and write clearly, and it means not avoiding difficult conversations. If either of those isn't you, this role will grind you down.
Bias for action. You think problems through without tipping into perfectionism, and you're comfortable shipping something scrappy and iterating from there. Unlikely to be a good fit if you default to building the full, polished version before it's in front of real users.
This Role Is NOT
- A project management role. We need people who decide what to build and why, not people who track whether someone else's plan is on schedule.
- An engineering role. You'll work closely with engineers and need enough technical fluency to earn their respect, but you won't be writing the code.
- A moderate-effort role. The problems above are genuinely hard and the bar is high. Look elsewhere for a comfortable, well-trodden playbook.
Benefits
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary : $140,000 – $185,000
- Equity : We want our product managers to benefit from significant company growth, so equity is a meaningful part of how we structure PM compensation.
- Healthcare : Medical, dental, and vision
- Fully remote : Work from anywhere in the US. Deep, uninterrupted thinking time matters more here than being at a desk, so we trust you to manage your environment.
- Flexible PTO : We focus on results. Take the time you need to recharge, then work hard when you're back.
