The Barista is responsible for exceptional customer service at Holy Grounds locations which includes defined level of product knowledge, presentation and quality of product, speed of service, sales ability, and good customer relations skills. Responsible for operating Holy Grounds as an independent unit and assuming all the responsibilities with that role since a manager is not present at all times. This person will work with management and co-workers to instill and foster the value of the Villanova Mission Statement and the Dining Services Mission Statement. Duties and Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Provides excellent customer service that is efficient, friendly and speedy to Holy Grounds customers. Treat each customer as your highest priority, being mindful of customers who are waiting. Operates POS terminals and some locations while others use Grub Hub applications to receive orders. Actively shares coffee and tea knowledge while actively selling all products. Advises customers of new coffees or teas or featured items of the week. Prepares all drinks according to Holy Grounds standards. Maintains the cleanliness and attractiveness of the Holy Ground kiosk by keeping counters and displays cleaned and fully stocked. Makes sure all products are labeled correctly. NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assists manager with scheduling of student associates. Responsible for enforcing the uniform standards of all student associates. Completes the tasks assigned at each shift, ensuring that everything is ready for the next shift. Enforces and practices all safety and sanitation policies and procedures for Villanova Dining Services. Monitors customer needs and responds to any concerns or questions in a friendly and courteous manner while attempting to resolve the issue immediately. Perform other duties and assist with project as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Formal Education: High School diploma or equivalent Specific Job Knowledge: Interest in coffee preferred. Will need to sample and test products for quality assurance. Minimum Work Experience: Cashiering experience or general food service experience of 1-2 years. Work Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong customer service skills Dress and grooming appropriate for Holy Grounds Concept Able to handle numerous tasks at once while prioritizing Equipment Knowledge: Will train on all coffee equipment. Preferred POS and Grub Hub systems.

Preferred Qualifications: Serv Safe certification preferred. Cash register knowledge is preferred.

Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours: Tools, machinery, and equipment used: Espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and cash registers Environmental conditions: Increased noise level around some equipment Cleaning chemicals used Physical requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds independently. Ability to sit stand for extended periods. Ability to push/pull up to 30 pounds independently. Ability to use various chemicals. Manual Dexterity.

Salary Posting Information: $18.98/hr.

Salary Grade: 8
