DIRECTOR OF NURSING - MED/SURG | LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITY JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Nursing - Med/Surg to provide strategic and operational leadership for a medical-surgical nursing department. This leadership role is responsible for the 24-hour management of designated units, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical expertise, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to fostering a culture of patient safety and continuous improvement.

Salary Range: $135,382 - $179,382 per year

REQUIREMENTS

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Nevada
Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience
Minimum of 2 years of progressive nursing leadership experience
Strong knowledge of nursing operations, patient care standards, and regulatory requirements
Computer proficiency including word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications
Ability to effectively lead, mentor, and develop nursing teams
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide 24-hour operational and clinical oversight of assigned nursing units
Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care
Lead nursing staff recruitment, retention, performance management, and professional development
Monitor departmental performance, quality indicators, and patient outcomes
Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards
Manage staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation
Collaborate with physicians, nursing leaders, and interdisciplinary teams
Implement policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives
Support patient safety and risk management efforts
Promote a positive and collaborative work environment

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Proven nursing leadership experience in an acute care setting
Strong background in Medical-Surgical nursing
Effective team leader with excellent interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to manage complex clinical operations
Passionate about patient care excellence and staff development
Results-driven with a commitment to quality improvement
