Staff Product Security Engineer

Abbott seeks a Staff Product Security Engineer to lead cybersecurity architecture and secure design for connected medical devices within the EP division. The role combines hands-on technical expertise in embedded systems and firmware security with cross-functional collaboration across software, hardware, regulatory, and product teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead cybersecurity architecture reviews and secure-by-design initiatives for connected medical devices
• Assess firmware, hardware, and cloud systems for security vulnerabilities and design flaws
• Conduct threat modeling and cybersecurity risk assessments aligned with regulatory requirements
• Develop and execute security testing strategies including penetration testing and vulnerability assessments
• Engage with regulatory, quality, and customer teams on cybersecurity compliance and submissions

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Deep expertise in embedded systems, firmware, and hardware security
• Strong knowledge of cryptography, secure boot, PKI, and certificate management
• Experience with threat modeling methodologies (STRIDE, OWASP, Attack Trees)
• Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and Linux-based systems
• Familiarity with hardware security modules, TPMs, secure elements, and TEEs
• Ability to communicate technical security concepts to non-technical stakeholders
