The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties many times with or without minimal supervision and also be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks. Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR Six months of experience in sub-professional engineering, heavy mobile equipment operation, or mobile equipment maintenance. Job Duties Inspect construction work to ensure compliance with departmental policies, standards, specifications, and project plans. Complete and process construction documentation such as field diaries, reports, and estimates. Enter, review, and maintain construction project data in departmental systems (e.g., MATT, Site Manager, Content Manager). Apply DOTD engineering policies and procedures while working in the Project Engineer’s office and at construction sites. Serve as the primary construction inspector in assigned areas of specialization or certification. Determine material sampling requirements and verify materials, haul quantities, and survey elevations and alignments. Complete required training and support efficient project operations, including assisting other staff as needed.
