Air Reserve Technician (ART) Work Leader and Aircraft Dedicated Crew Chief

Duties

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) work leader and aircraft dedicated crew chief over a crew of three or more workers/mechanics. In this capacity, the work leader/crew chief coordinates and oversees all maintenance/periodic inspections performed on his/her assigned aircraft. While performing such duties is considered as being the technical authority of the assigned aircraft, providing instructional guidance, making work arrangements, and insuring the production pace is maintained. Performs non-leader trades and labor work as a member of the work crew along with providing training in the accomplishment of duties and responsibilities.

• Serves as a Work Leader/Dedicated Crew Chief of assigned aircraft, responsible for coordinating and/or overseeing maintenance, troubleshooting, positioning and servicing of the aircraft.
• Performs or oversees aircraft inspections including preflight, post flight, phase, acceptance, and other scheduled and unscheduled inspections. Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes.
• Provides technical supervision on production matters to all employees assigned to the crew/team.
• Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area.
• Certifies work produced under the USAF Technical Order Program.
