Senior Radiation Control Technician 4 - Nuclear Facilities (DOE/LANL)

Location: Los Alamos, NM (100% Onsite) Compensation: $48-$54/hr base + shift differential eligibility

Schedule: 4/10s | Rotating shifts including nights and weekends Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required

Clearance: Ability to obtain DOE Q Clearance | Subject to DOE Order 426.2

This is a high-visibility, high-responsibility role for an experienced HP professional who has built their career in DOE or nuclear environments and is ready to step into a senior leadership position at one of the nation's premier scientific institutions. WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Serve as the primary point of contact for planning, coordination, and resolution of conflicting radiological control demands in challenging and high-hazard conditions
• Act as subject matter expert for radiological work control packages (RWCPs), ensuring full compliance for all radiological work including high-hazard operations
• Provide technical supervision, mentorship, and guidance to junior RCTs in the field
• Anticipate and resolve complex radiological problems independently, escalating only when scope demands it
• Coordinate work area resources to support safe and efficient operations across teams
• Demonstrate safety and compliance leadership through your actions and presence on the floor
• Perform work outdoors, in PPE, and outside normal working hours as mission requires
• Lift and carry radiation protection equipment as needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance - required for all LANL positions
• 3-5 years of demonstrated RCT experience in a DOE, nuclear, or equivalent regulated environment
• Strong working knowledge of DOE 10CFR835 compliance and radiation protection procedures
• Demonstrated ability to independently perform the full range of radiological support activities
• Proven ability to make tactical decisions in dynamic, high-hazard environments
• Experience providing technical leadership and oversight to junior technicians
• Ability to develop independent solutions to complex radiological challenges
• Subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Broad knowledge across health physics and related disciplines
• Experience authoring or reviewing radiological work control packages (RWCPs)
• Active DOE Core Card and/or NRRPT certification
• Prior experience at LANL, NNSA, or another DOE national laboratory or facility
• Military health physics, radiation control, or nuclear field background
• Strong communication skills with customers, technicians, and management

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma plus 3-5 years of directly related RCT experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional certifications, technical training, or associate's degree preferred. This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2 requirements.
