Mobile Diesel Technician II – Cox Fleet Shift: Tuesday – Saturday, Overnight (field environment with mobile service truck). About the Role Mobile Diesel Technician II performs licensed DOT and preventive maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical diagnostics, and provides technical leadership on sites. Duties Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in the field. Minor adjustment and repair on truck equipment: electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc. Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment using test instruments and handheld computers. Road test vehicles to confirm proper operation. Identify problems and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment. Manage parts inventory, reconcile supplies, and obtain parts from approved vendors. Maintain and operate company‑issued service truck, conduct safety checks, and perform pre/post‑trip inspections. Communicate effectively with clients to assess needs and resolve problems. Prioritize concurrent tasks and manage own daily schedule. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lift and jacks. Document work on Company Repair Orders via iOS device; upload pictures and parts used. Complete DOT forms and all required documentation timely. Work independently and maintain a high level of productivity within standard repair times. Coordinate with management for repair estimates and purchase orders. Perform all work in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company safety policies. Requirements High School Diploma/GED with 3+ years in related field; advanced degrees or certifications may substitute. At least 3 years experience with refrigerated equipment. Own set of hand tools required for duties. OEM training and certifications preferred. Complete all company required training. Pass DOT‑regulated background screening and DOT physical (or valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining). At least 21 years old and hold a valid state driver’s license. Safe driver required; maintain Driver Qualification File. Perform moderately heavy labor and repetitive tasks. Effective communication and two‑way dialogue. Determine appropriate tools and equipment. Accurately judge distance and spatial relationships. Apply logic and reasoning to evaluate solutions. Benefits & Compensation Hourly pay range: $26.73–$40.10/hour, with potential commission or incentive program. Salary may vary with location and experience.
