Seasonal Project Assistant - Community Events

Join the City of Pleasant Hill and gain hands on experience in community event planning. The City of Pleasant Hill’s City Manager’s Office is offering an exciting temporary limited duration opportunity for a Project Assistant to gain practical experience supporting community events and programs. In this role, you’ll work alongside the Community Relations Manager and other City staff to help plan and deliver signature community events, including Light Up the Night and the Summer by the Lake Concert Series. This is a great opportunity to learn how local government brings community events to life—from promotion and vendor coordination to event logistics and day of support. You’ll Gain Experience With Event logistics, including event setup, tear down, and day of event operations Vendor, sponsor, and community partner communication Social media posts, flyer distribution, and community outreach efforts in coordination with marketing staff Post-event evaluations, surveys, and reporting on event outcomes and attendee feedback Working with City staff to help create engaging experiences for the community Experience And Education High school graduation or equivalent. College level coursework in event planning, hospitality, or a related field is preferred but not required; relevant or related experience may substitute. Qualifications Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Social media experience is desired. Effective communication and customer service skills. Creative thinking and problem-solving capabilities. Strong organizational skills, time management, and high attention to detail Canva or other graphic design software experience is desirable. Assignment Details Pay: $25 per hour Duration: Six-month temporary assignment Hours: 8–10 hours per week Schedule: Flexible, during City Hall regular business hours, based on event and project needs including nights and weekends.
