The Licensed Optician is a key member of the DIFF Eyewear retail team and plays an important role in delivering an exceptional customer experience from eye exam through eyewear selection and purchase. Working in a fast paced, fashion forward sunglasses environment, this role combines optical expertise, customer service, product knowledge, and sales.

The Licensed Optician will support customers throughout the eyewear journey by helping them understand their prescription, providing expert guidance on lens and frame options, taking accurate measurements, assisting with eyewear selection, and ensuring orders are processed accurately.

The ideal candidate is passionate about optical, comfortable working in a retail environment, and excited to bring their expertise to a modern sunglasses brand. This role requires someone who can balance clinical accuracy and compliance with a fun, engaging, and highly personalized customer experience.

• Provide knowledgeable and professional optical assistance to customers following their eye exam.
• Review prescriptions and educate customers on available lens, frame, and sunglass options.
• Take accurate pupillary distance and other required optical measurements.
• Assist customers with frame selection based on prescription requirements, fit, lifestyle, and personal style.
• Explain lens options, coatings, materials, and other optical features in a clear and easy to understand manner.
• Ensure eyewear recommendations are appropriate for the customer's prescription and individual needs.
• Verify completed eyewear orders for accuracy and quality.
• Perform adjustments, fittings, repairs, and other basic optical services as appropriate.
• Ensure customers leave with properly fitted and comfortable eyewear.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when handling customer and prescription information.

• Deliver an elevated and personalized customer experience that reflects the DIFF brand.
• Build genuine relationships with customers and provide expert guidance throughout the sales process.
• Use optical expertise to confidently educate customers and make product recommendations.
• Drive sales through exceptional service, product knowledge, and solution based selling.
• Introduce customers to additional products and services that meet their individual needs.
• Maintain a strong understanding of DIFF products, collections, lens offerings, pricing, promotions, and brand initiatives.
• Support the store team in achieving individual and overall sales goals.
• Create an engaging and energetic environment that encourages customers to explore the brand and products.

• Support the overall customer experience before and after eye exams.
• Assist with patient flow and ensure customers are prepared for their appointment.
• Coordinate with the eye care professional to ensure a smooth transition from the exam experience to eyewear selection.
• Answer general questions regarding prescriptions and eyewear while staying within the appropriate scope of practice.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional optical area.
• Follow all applicable company policies and state requirements related to optical services and patient information.

• Maintain accurate customer, prescription, and order information.
• Process eyewear orders accurately and efficiently.
• Receive, inspect, and organize optical products and customer orders.
• Assist with inventory management and cycle counts.
• Maintain proper organization of frames, sunglasses, lenses, supplies, and optical equipment.
• Ensure all optical equipment is clean, maintained, and functioning properly.
• Follow all company policies and procedures related to cash handling, loss prevention, inventory, and store operations.
• Support opening and closing procedures as needed.

• Become an expert on DIFF Eyewear products, collections, materials, lens options, and brand story.
• Stay current on optical trends, products, technologies, and industry best practices.
• Educate fellow team members on optical products, prescriptions, fitting, and customer needs.
• Serve as the in store optical resource for the retail team.
• Help create a seamless experience between optical expertise and the DIFF fashion brand.

• Partner with the Store Manager and retail team to achieve store goals.
• Collaborate with eye care professionals to create a seamless customer experience.
• Provide coaching and guidance to team members on optical products and customer education.
• Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining professional optical standards.
• Participate in product training, team meetings, and company initiatives.
• Maintain a positive, collaborative, and energetic team environment.

• Licensed Optician in good standing with the applicable state licensing authority.
• Previous experience working as an optician in an optical retail environment.
• Strong knowledge of prescriptions, lenses, frames, measurements, fittings, and adjustments.
• Passionate about providing exceptional customer service.
• Comfortable working in a sales focused retail environment.
• Fashion and product focused with an appreciation for sunglasses and eyewear.
• Confident educating customers and making product recommendations.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to optical accuracy.
• Comfortable working in a fast paced environment while managing multiple customers and priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Team oriented with a willingness to jump in wherever needed.
• Comfortable working with retail technology, POS systems, optical ordering systems, and other technology.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to help build and grow a new retail business.

• You hold an active, unrestricted Florida optician license. 
• ABO/NCLE credentialed.
• Previous optical experience required.
• Ability to work a retail schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work 8 hour shifts and maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to bend, squat, reach, and perform other physical tasks associated with a retail environment.
• Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle confidential customer and prescription information appropriately.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to build genuine customer relationships.
• Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a collaborative team.
