Elementary Counselor - Holloman Elementary School

Job Snapshot: To teach by implementing a flexible program and creating an environment favorable to learning and personal growth by: (1) encouraging students to develop skills, attitudes, and the knowledge needed to obtain a good foundation for continuous growth and development; (2) providing students with experiences which integrate the effective, cognitive, and psychomotor dimensions of learning; (3) establishing effective rapport with students and their parents; and (4) assisting students in developing positive feelings toward themselves and others.

Education and Experience Requirements: National Certified School Counselor credential issued by National Board for Certified Counselors; Or Master's degree in Guidance Counseling or Masters in Social Work; Or Current New Mexico Licensure from Counseling & Practice Board or Social Work Board (LPC, LPCC, LMHC,LISW, LCSW, LMSW) Current New Mexico Public Education License as School Counselor "preferred or eligibility" School experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and relationships with students, parents, staff, and administrators Ability to perform essential job functions and job task requirements Ability to develop a rapport with community providers and build collaboration to assure on going care for our students.

Position Available: 2026-27 School Year.

Salary: Nine months (185 days) per contract year and appropriate placement on the District Guidance Counselor Salary Schedule. The work calendar is subject to change based on any Board approved revisions that may or may not be Permanent. Reference: Alamogordo Public Schools Salary and Work Day Calendar.

Conditions of Employment: Ability to comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 and, upon an offer of employment, complete an Employee's Statement of Health and submit to a functional capacity evaluation at the District's expense to determine ability to perform job-related functions and fitness for duty. Any offer of employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of all background, criminal, and reference investigations.
