Fleet Operations Supervisor

The Fleet Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day yard operations to ensure efficient, safe, and organized movement of equipment and trailers. This role plays a critical part in maintaining operational flow, supporting dispatch and fleet teams, and ensuring inventory and staging processessuch as the propane canopyfollow a consistent First-In, First-Out (FIFO) system. The supervisor also maintains clear and consistent communication with the Distribution Center to support seamless coordination of inbound and outbound operations.

Key responsibilities include overseeing and coordinating yard operations to ensure smooth and efficient flow of trailers, equipment, and drivers; maintaining consistent, clear communication with the Distribution Center regarding trailer readiness, dock availability, delays, and operational priorities; monitoring dock activity and yard congestion, proactively adjusting staging and trailer positioning as needed; maintaining accurate and organized trailer and equipment placement within the yard; ensuring the propane canopy inventory is structured and maintained using FIFO principles; communicating daily with dispatch, drivers, and DC personnel to support load movement and on-time departures; identifying and resolving yard-related bottlenecks or operational delays; promoting and enforcing safety procedures and compliance standards; assisting with tracking trailer readiness, maintenance needs, and equipment availability; supporting training and guidance of yard personnel to ensure consistent operational practices; and maintaining clear and accurate operational records and reports as needed.

Required qualifications include strong ability to manage and coordinate high-volume yard operations in a fast-paced environment; excellent communication and problem-solving skills, including the ability to coordinate effectively with a Distribution Center environment; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively; and willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or nights as needed. Preferred qualifications include previous experience in fleet, transportation, logistics, or distribution center operations; working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.); and experience with yard management systems, TMS, or telematics platforms.
