Biomedical Repair Technician

Job Description

Job Description

iMedical refurbishes hospital beds and stretchers, and we're looking for a hands-on technician who likes finding the real cause of a problem, not just swapping parts until it goes away. You'll diagnose and repair Stryker bed and stretcher platforms, with some work on Hill-Rom/Baxter units. You'll also help keep our fleet safe, compliant, and ready to ship. You'll work independently with minimal supervision, and the job may include occasional travel for field service or pickups.

What You'll Do

• Diagnose and repair electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical faults on Stryker beds and stretchers, including drive systems, brake actuators, CAN bus communication, control boards, siderail electronics, scale systems, and battery/charging circuits
• Test and repair components such as power supplies, control boards, motors, actuators, and wiring harnesses
• Use wiring diagrams, schematics, and OEM service documentation to guide repairs
• Verify voltage, continuity, and signal behavior with a multimeter and other test equipment
• Reassemble, calibrate, and function-test every unit before it returns to inventory or ships
• Perform preventive maintenance to OEM intervals and run electrical safety tests (ground continuity, leakage current)
• Track repair history, PM status, and unit condition, and make sure serial numbers, PM stickers, and safety labels are accurate
• Flag units that may need recall-related inspection and escalate them per company procedure
• Document findings, parts used, and repair outcomes for quality and traceability
• Spot recurring failure patterns and share them with the Production Supervisor
• Order and track replacement parts, and keep your tools and test equipment calibrated
• Coach other technicians on Stryker and Hill-Rom troubleshooting
• Keep a clean, safe work area and follow PPE requirements
• Travel occasionally for field service, inspections, or equipment pickup and delivery

What You Bring

• Ability to diagnose electronic and mechanical systems down to the component level
• Working knowledge of basic electronics (voltage, continuity, circuits) and comfort with a multimeter
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical service documentation
• Experience with hand and power tools for mechanical disassembly and reassembly
• Strong attention to detail and a habit of following documented procedures and safety protocols
• Ability to read and write English, follow written and verbal instructions, use basic math, and complete required documentation
• Good communication and customer service skills with coworkers, vendors, and customers

Strongly preferred

• Experience repairing Stryker beds or stretchers (InTouch, S3 3005, or similar)

Nice to have

• Hill-Rom/Baxter experience
• Familiarity with biomedical equipment maintenance (PM scheduling, electrical safety testing, fleet tracking)
• A technical degree or certification in electronics, BMET, or a related field. Equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.
• Willingness to travel occasionally
• P hysical Requirements
• Sitting, standing, and walking in shop and warehouse settings
• Stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and bending
• Lifting equipment, components, and beds/stretchers
• Near and distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• For travel: ability to drive and to lift and transport equipment
