Dental Assistant - RDA

PRIMARY DUTIES:assists the dentists and hygienists in chair side procedures routinely done in a general dental practiceresponsible for preparation and setting up of instruments, materials, and equipment necessary for each procedureresponsible for exposing and processing dental radiographsresponsible for the sterilization of instruments, and the cleaning and routine maintenance of equipment and work areasschedules patients, does routine reception workaccurately records information on patients recordshelps implement the processing of encounters and billing and bookkeeping procedureshelps to identify related medical and/or social problems, fills out insurance formsOTHER DUTIES:orders supplies and materialsmaintains inventory of supplies and materials as well as maintaining thorough and accurate documentation of inventoryattend conferences and meetings of dental importance as neededother duties as assigned by supervisorPhysical and Mental Requirements:visual and auditory accuracyindoor settingshift length - 8 hoursfrequent use of computerextensive standing and walkingfrequent squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, climbingoccasional sittingfrequent telephone usagecontinuous conversational communicationcontinuous repetitive grasping and manipulation of both handsoccasionally working in confined, noisy areasoccasionally lifting and carrying up to 50 lbsoccasionally pushing, pulling and positioning patients up to 200 lbsoccasionally pushing, pulling and positioning (with assistance) patients over 200 lbsoccasional exposure to electrical, chemical, gaseous and dusty conditionsoccasional exposure to patients with communicable diseasesinfrequent use of personal transportationunderstand/carry out simple/detailed, oral/written instructionsmemorize and retain instructionsread and interpret detailed specificationsable to respond quickly and calmly in medical emergenciesREPORTS TO: Practice ManagerEDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of accredited certification dental assisting course preferred.
