The Mortgage Lending Officer role is a developing professional role that identifies policy and applies specialty knowledge in monitoring and assessing processes and data. A member of Citi Bank Retail Mortgage, the Home Lending Officer role represents the Retail Mortgage business, providing superior service to clients and referral partners. The officer is responsible for originating high-quality residential real estate loans and driving mortgage sales through engagement with clients, real estate agents and other referrers. Responsibilities Consult with customers about their financial situation, goals, and lending needs to help them achieve home ownership. Collect and analyze information about customers' financial situation, goals, risk tolerance, future plans, income, assets, debts, cash flow, and credit history. Analyze financial information to assess whether the customer and property qualify for a particular lending solution. Make recommendations about lending solutions that best meet customers' objectives. Advise customers on the consequences, risks, and benefits of alternative lending solutions. Promote Citi's brand and financial solutions to real estate agencies, builders, referral sources and customers. Visit customers outside Citi offices, varying by clientele, geography, market conditions. Work as a team with internal partners to support and grow customers. Refer customers seeking other financial services to appropriate Citi professionals. Partner with Operations teams to ensure seamless transfer of loan application and provide necessary documents to Processors/Underwriters. Work with Processors/Closers and customers to ensure timely closing of loans. Go to key referral relationships (Realtors, CPAs, Builders) to drive mortgage business into the bank. Introduce clients to segment partners as appropriate (Bank, Wealth Management, Small Business, Cards, etc.). Keep abreast of trends and developments in local marketplace and changing regulations, and expand internal and external network to better serve clients and industry professionals. Appropriately assess risk and demonstrate consideration for firm reputation and compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policy. Qualifications 2-5 years relevant experience. 3+ years previous mortgage sales experience required. Residential mortgage experience required. Established book of business. Proven product sales capability required. FHA/VA & conventional loan experience preferred. Ability to comprehend and explain financial calculations and pricing alternatives. Ability to communicate with customers about required documents and information. Knowledge of laws and regulations governing consumer lending, including fair lending, privacy, and RESPA. Demonstrated customer service skills. Strong relationship development and management skills. Expertise of general lending products and overall mortgage industry. This position requires registration as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry before engaging in mortgage loan originator activities. Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Compensation Full‑time salary range: $60,000–$175,000. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may receive discretionary and formulaic incentive and retention awards.
