Sterile Processing AssistantThe salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $22.13 – $30.30. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. This position is responsible for the cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization of instruments and supplies.Details of the PositionCleans, decontaminates instrumentation and supplies.Collects, disassembles, cleans and disinfects instrumentation used in procedures.Reassembles instruments and packages appropriately.Operates a variety of disinfecting equipment.Monitors and documents sterilization parameters.Cleans and maintains department equipment.Understands and applies the principles of asepsis in sterile processing work.Restocks work areas and delivers instrumentation to appropriate departments.Provides excellent customer service and participates in the performance improvement activities.Participates in staff education and department meetings.Performs other duties as assigned.What You BringEducationHigh School Diploma Preferred: or equivalentExperiencePreferred: Previous hospital or patient care experiencePreferred: Medical terminologySkillsAbility to coordinate activities and work collaboratively with others. (Required)Basic computer skill. (Required)Well organized, detailed oriented and self-motivated. (Required)Ability to utilize computers for email, training records and completing on-line education. (Required)Ability to communicate appropriately with the person served regardless of their age. (Required)Working ConditionsFine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.Child Care Attendant: Ability to move around area with occasional sitting. Lift/carrying: Occasional up to 25 lbs. Push/pull: Occasional up to 50 lbs. force.Frequent bending/ kneeling/ squatting/ stooping/ reaching/ grasping.Occasional push/pull up to 50 lbs. force.Occasional reaching/ bending/ stooping/ squatting/ crouching/ kneeling/ grasping.Security: Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
