The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced emergency department, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals presenting with a wide range of acute illnesses and traumatic injuries. Strong critical-thinking skills, rapid assessment abilities, and effective teamwork are essential for this role.ResponsibilitiesProvide emergency nursing care to patients of varying acuity levelsPerform rapid assessments, triage, and prioritize patient care based on severityInitiate and manage IV therapy, medications, and emergency interventionsAdminister medications and manage drips, including heparin, magnesium, and potassium ridersMonitor cardiac rhythms and respond to emergent changes in patient conditionAssist with trauma resuscitations, codes, and emergency proceduresCollaborate with physicians, paramedics, and the interdisciplinary healthcare teamMaintain accurate and timely documentation in MeditechAdhere to all hospital policies, emergency protocols, and patient safety standardsPatient PopulationAdult and geriatric emergency patientsCommon presentations include chest pain, respiratory distress, sepsis, stroke, trauma, abdominal pain, and behavioral health emergenciesPatient assignments based on acuity and departmental needsRequirementsActive New York State RN licenseMinimum one successful travel assignment completed (first-time travelers not considered)BLS and ACLS certifications requiredPALS preferred (or required, if applicable)Meditech experience requiredGraduate of an accredited School of NursingStrong critical-thinking, communication, and multitasking skillsAbility to remain calm and effective in high-pressure, rapidly changing situations
