WSBT Fall News Intern
Step inside the newsroom where stories break, voices matter, and information moves at the speed of now.
We're looking for a passionate, curious, and driven News Intern to join our team for Fall 2026. As part of a forward-thinking media organization, you won't just observe-you'll actively contribute to the storytelling that informs and connects our community across platforms.
From breaking news to digital-first storytelling, this is your opportunity to experience what modern journalism really looks like.
What You'll Do
This is a fast-paced, real newsroom-no two days are the same.
Create & Contribute: Assist in researching, writing, and producing news stories for broadcast and digital platforms
Be Where the Action Is: Work alongside reporters, anchors, producers, and photographers-both in the newsroom and out in the field
Pitch Ideas: Bring fresh story ideas to the table and help shape coverage that matters to our audience
Get Hands-On: Learn how to shoot video, frame compelling visuals, and understand what makes a story stand out
Behind the Scenes: Gain exposure to control room operations and how live broadcasts come together in real time

To be considered, candidates must:
Be at least 18 years of age
Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, or a recent graduate
Be at least a sophomore at an accredited college/university
Be eligible to work in the United States
Be available to work on-site at WSBT in South Bend, IN approximately 15 hours per week for 10 weeks
Be able to start between August 24th - September 14th
Have reliable transportation (housing/relocation is not provided)
Be passionate about local news, storytelling, and community impact
Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
