Annual Giving Officer

Reports to: Manager of Annual Giving Classification: Exempt Location: Evanston, IL This position is designated as Hybrid - Fully Flexible and expected to work from our world headquarters office once per month to several times a week. The specific days in the office are determined by managers based on business requirements. Position Overview This position supports the Annual Giving team, responsible primarily for cultivating donors and developing fundraising strategies to support the Annual Fund as the cornerstone of The Rotary Foundation’s donor pipeline to its major and gift planning programs. You will identify prospective donors and their goals by providing counsel and resources to regional and club fundraising volunteers. The Annual Giving Officer (AGO) supports overall fundraising progress in an assigned territory as it relates to the goals of The Rotary Foundation and, specifically, the goals of the Annual Giving department. You Will Have Bachelor's degree; Advanced degree preferred Professional fluency in Spanish, both written and verbal to conduct presentations and provide consultation Successful prior development experience strongly preferred, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors or comparable job experience Experience with public speaking in front of small and large audiences Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office apps, video conferencing (e.g. Zoom) and fundraising databases (Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge software preferred) Strong inter-personal skills, professional demeanor, and commitment to customer service Personal and professional integrity, particularly with regard to responsibly handling donor information Knowledge of a second language helpful You Are Good At Persuasive communications, both oral and written Supporting and collaborating with volunteer leaders, executive management and high-level donors and board members Juggling multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritizing workload in a timely, self-directed fashion Giving and receiving constructive feedback You Will Be Responsible For Developing fundraising strategies and resources Coordinates and implements Annual Giving fundraising strategies to increase donor acquisition, adoption of automated/recurring giving, and milestone giving to the Annual Fund and other funding priorities, with emphasis on PolioPlus giving, in an assigned geographic territory; Prepares and disseminates resources and trainings on fundraising best practices to help regional volunteer leadership identify and effectively cultivate major gift prospects; Collaborates with major and planned giving staff to encourage donors to upgrade giving levels; Create and utilize communication tools including: fundraising progress reports, appeal letters, marketing strategies, motivational messages, and individual donor correspondence; Represent The Rotary Foundation to cultivate giving Travels to assigned territory approximately 6-7 times per year (including weekends) to represent The Rotary Foundation and promote ongoing financial support with donors, volunteers and senior Rotary leaders at events and in individual meetings; Must possess a valid passport with ability to travel freely to Mexico specifically, and other countries in Central and South America Averages 10 meetings (combined face-to-face and virtual), 45-50 phone calls, and 250 e-mails per quarter with regional volunteers to address annual giving activity and strategies; Maintain a small portfolio of major donors/prospects primarily with a giving capacity between $5,000-$25,000; Averages 10 stewardship and/or cultivation phone calls per month with major gift prospects; Averages 25 meetings per year (combined face-to-face and virtual) with major gift prospects through qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship visits; Works in close partnership with major gift officers and planned giving officers to develop major gift pipeline; Gathers, records, and properly stores appropriate meeting notes concerning major gift prospects utilizing Raiser’s Edge. Other duties as assigned Other duties may include, but are not limited to, working with volunteer leaders on inquiries, leading department meetings, working on special projects, and testing system updates.
