Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician

Position Summary The Department of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina and North Carolina Children’s Hospital seeks a Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician (DBP) to join our growing Development, Behavior and Learning Program. The DBP will provide outpatient assessment and ongoing care for children with or at risk for developmental disabilities such as autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, genetic conditions, and related disorders. The position involves interdisciplinary care with psychology, social work, and nursing, and plays an integral role in training pediatric residents and other learners. Responsibilities include resident didactics, shadowing, supervision, and supporting the future development of a DBP fellowship. The role also requires close collaboration with UNC’s Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities, the LEND site, and the TEACCH program. The position is located in the newly formed Division of Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics within the School of Medicine. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Applicants must be board certified or eligible in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, having completed a pediatric residency and either completed or be in the process of successfully completing fellowship training in DBP. Excellent communication skills with patients, families, colleagues, and staff are required. Clinical skills should include evidence‑based assessment of children with or at risk for developmental disabilities and ongoing care, including medication management.
