NTT Assistant Professor of Practice, Master of Social Work

Merrimack College is a selective, private college in a beautiful,residential setting — just minutes from Boston,Massachusetts. Position Overview The Master of SocialWork program in the Graduate School of Counseling and Social Workat Merrimack College invites applicants for one (1) assistantprofessor of practice, non-tenure track, 9-month faculty positionto begin in Spring 2027. We are specifically looking for anindividual who will teach on-campus and online in the Master ofSocial Work program, which is accredited by CSWE. Candidates musthave a MSW from a CSWE accredited program or equivalencyestablished through CSWE and a doctorate in Social Work or in arelated field. The candidate will be responsible for teaching atotal of 8 courses across fall and spring semesters, serve as anacademic advisor and actively contribute to the MSW program, theGraduate School of Counseling and Social Work, as well as thecollege. On Campus MSW Program Aligned with the mission ofMerrimack College, the Master of Social Work program is an on-ground advanced generalist program and is accredited by CSWE. Itrepresents a dynamic, innovative, and growth-oriented trainingprogram with a commitment to working with vulnerable andmarginalized populations; and affirms the values ofself-determination, sustainability, and community and globalsolidarity. The program is designed to offer both a part-time andfull-time and Advanced Standing Track for students. We plan tolaunch a comparable online MSW program effective Fall 2026. The faculty member will teach a total of 32 credit/contact hours (8courses) across the fall and spring semesters. Faculty are expectedto teach on-campus courses in the evening after 4:00 pm. Onlinecourses will be asynchronous and synchronous. It is critical forthe faculty to possess confidence and skill teaching and advisingadult learners. The successful candidate should demonstrate theexperience or ability to teach a range of courses in social workdiscipline including but not limited to: Introduction to SocialWork Research and Practice, Evaluation of Social Work Practice,Contemporary Social Welfare Policy, and other related courses. Thefaculty will be responsible for providing formal on-campus andonline teaching, effective delivery of instructional material andcourse management (e.g., assessments, grading, etc.), advising,mentoring, and supervision of graduate students, attending facultymeetings, and completing social work programmatic tasks, and otherresponsibilities as assigned by the Dean. Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited programor equivalency as defined by CSWE Doctoral degree in Social Work or an Ed.D. or Ph.D. in arelated field Minimum 2-years full-time post MSW experience in social workpractice Minimum of 3 years of on-campus and/or online teaching in a MSWprogram Preferred Qualifications LCSW/LICSW with minimum 2-years post MSW clinical practice andsupervision experience. Experience with online platforms for course delivery andassessment. Experience working with and/or teaching about multiculturalpopulations, immigrant populations, or underservedcommunities. Proficiency in a second language as a bilingual speaker.
