Student Assistant, Social Media (Federal Work Study)

The New School was founded by forward-thinking educators in 1919 to defy the intellectual constraints of a traditional college education. The Dean's Office at Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts and The New School for Social Research is seeking a student assistant to support Dean's Office communications across social media platforms, including Instagram, Meta, X, and TikTok. The successful candidate will report to the Dean's Office and will play a key role in maintaining a consistent, engaging social media presence for the college. RESPONSIBILITIES Manage a communications posting calendar to keep social media content organized and on schedule. Schedule social media posts through the multi-platform publisher Sprout. Post natively on all Lang social media platforms, including posts, stories, and videos/reels. Respond to comments and direct messages across social media platforms in a timely and professional manner. Pull social media benchmark reports to track engagement and performance. Complete other related communications tasks as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Matriculated New School student. Federal Work-Study Award letter required. Quick learner of new platforms and tools. Available up to 10 hours per week. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS First-year student interested in cultivating their skillset over four years. Administrative experience. Editorial/proofreading experience. Technology-savvy; familiar with Instagram, Meta, X, and TikTok. WORK MODE Hybrid - Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice.
