RECREATION ATHLETICS MANAGER I (CLASS CODE 6148)

Overview Employees in this classification are primarily responsible for administering, implementing and evaluating the operations of athletic recreation programs for all age groups at facilities assigned within the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission. Work also includes responsibility for enhancing the quality of athletic programs, staff, and facility conditions in areas of responsibility. Employees are expected to set high standards for the optimum usage of resources to best serve the public and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility; and related duties as required. Responsibilities Administer, implement, and evaluate athletic recreation programs. Enhance the quality of programs, staff, and facility conditions. Set high standards for optimal resource usage to serve the public. Perform technical tasks related to assigned responsibilities. Qualifications Option 1: A Bachelor’s degree majoring in Recreation, Parks Administration, Leisure Activities, Health, Physical Education, Fine Arts, Performing Arts or a related field. Option 2: Permanent or probationary status as a Recreation Leader II, Recreation Center Assistant II, or Recreation Site Facilitator II and at least two (2) years of experience in those classifications. Option 3: A high school diploma or GED and at least four (4) years of experience in the coordination and/or administration of community services or recreational programs. *Prior to appointment, the hiring agency is required to verify education claimed by the applicant. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification. This position requires a one (1) year probationary period. The working test period for all classified positions is one year.
