Position Patient Care Technician (PCT) Department Cardiac Telemetry Unit Facility Upper Valley Medical Center Shift 7:00 PM–7:30 AM; full‑time, 36 hours per week, 72 hours per pay period. Nights. Role Summary A Patient Care Technician works with nurses and doctors to care for patients in the Cardiac Telemetry Unit. Responsibilities Check temperature, heartbeat, and breathing. Assist patients with movement, dressing, and eating. Collect samples such as urine. Report any changes in a patient's condition to a nurse. Help with patient walks, hygiene, weighing, and vital sign measurements. Education High school diploma or GED required. Training BLS/CPR certification required; can be obtained during orientation. Experience No prior experience required, but acceptable backgrounds include: Completed STNA, CNA, or PCT/Patient Care Assistant training. Helped care for patients in the past 5 years (e.g., taking temperature, bathing, assisting with restroom use). Currently in nursing school and completed one clinical rotation. Other Skills Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, even when interrupted, while maintaining politeness. Computer proficiency. Strong organizational skills.
