Unit Mission Statement “To provide youth with skills for a healthy life, and instill purpose, hope and vision to youth and their families.” Position Summary The Program Manager (PM) of the Maui Safe House Program is a full‑time, exempt position. The program provides a structured long‑term residential service for adolescent male residents. The PM is responsible for overall program management, maintaining contractual and licensing requirements, recruiting, training, developing and supervising staff, and ensuring resident safety and service goal attainment. The PM reports to the Executive Director. Essential Qualifications BA degree in Human Services or related field with five years experience in providing residential services. Two years experience in personnel management and proposal or grant writing. Valid TB clearance and physical exam. Valid First Aid and CPR certification. Valid Hawaii driver’s license and valid no‑fault insurance. Successful background clearances including FBI & Hawaii State criminal, DHS Child Abuse Neglect, motor vehicle records. Essential Functions Overall management of the Safe House residential services. Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and manage multiple contracts and program sites for implementation of residential services, including youth activity, programs with school personnel, community, other youth service agencies and agency workers. Direct supervision of all residential staff in the performance of their duties and work schedules. Manage all contracts to meet requirements and outcomes required by the various funding sources. Overall case supervision of clients served, ensuring youth treatment plans are continually reviewed and goals/objectives achieved in a timely manner. Orient/train/evaluate program and volunteer staff in residential program activities and curriculum. Develop operational procedures for the residential programs in accordance with contract requirements. Provide monthly and quarterly reports to the Executive Director and funding agencies regarding clients served and services provided. Assist the administration in presenting the program to the community and maintaining productive relationships with client‑related agencies, community resources and programs, schools and similar entities. Evaluate staff development requirements and arrange for training as needed. Perform the duties of the residential staff during their absence or when work requirements indicate such involvement. Prepare funding proposals as assigned or indicated. Attend all staff meetings, training, conferences and workshops as requested or scheduled. Travel off‑island as necessary. Manage and prioritize multiple projects in an organized and efficient manner. Respond to crisis situations calmly and effectively. Complete projects on schedule. Maintain confidentiality. Maintain regular and punctual work attendance; may require flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Physical Demands The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye‑hand coordination; use of vision; driving a vehicle; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 25‑50 pounds and occasionally more than 50 pounds; traveling by airplane. Communication Demands The position requires talking to co‑workers, clients, vendors; written communication to and from co‑workers, clients, vendors; talking on the telephone; responding to written or verbal requests; training/giving verbal and written instructions; receiving verbal and written instructions; writing/composing written language; reading; visiting/working at other worksites; communicating via the latest technologies. Technical Knowledge Prioritize multiple work tasks to meet tight deadlines. Equipment Needs Use office equipment such as computers, photocopiers, scanners, calculators, etc. Work Environment Most work will be indoors at Family Intervention Services. Attendance at trainings, both in Hawaii and on the mainland, may be required.
