Associate Professor/Graduate & Undergraduate Programs - Helms School of Government

Responsibilities The Associate Professor’s primary role is to teach in their areas of expertise, maintain the integrity of course and instructional programs, and ensure that delivery is aligned with the university mission and vision. Faculty members create an academic atmosphere of mutual respect for student dignity and engage in teaching, mentorship, and scholarship. Faculty may be asked to aid in curriculum development for residential and distance education, engage in research or creative activity, and provide additional service to students and the professional discipline. In this position, the individual will instruct both graduate and undergraduate students in criminal justice, criminology, investigations, administration of justice, and related topics, and will assist in developing the curriculum for the residential CJUS graduate program. Qualifications and Experience Terminal degree from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology, Public Administration, or related disciplines. Twenty or more years in public safety. Demonstrated strengths in teaching and mentoring. Organizational skills facilitating timely and accurate completion of assignments and tasks. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and online Learning Management Systems.
