CAD Designer/Drafter

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented CAD Designer/Drafter to support the preparation and revision of construction drawings for life safety, fire protection, and low-voltage systems. This position is ideal for an individual with AutoCAD experience who is interested in developing a long-term career within an engineering and design environment.

The successful candidate will work under the guidance of experienced design professionals, contribute to active projects, and have opportunities to develop their technical knowledge and drafting skills.

This is an on-site position in Hauppauge, NY. Candidates must be local or able to reliably commute to the office.

Responsibilities

Create and revise construction drawings using AutoCAD under supervision.

Prepare floor plan layouts, riser diagrams, electrical interconnection drawings, and installation/termination drawings.

Assist with preparation of project submittal documentation, including product data sheets and battery calculations.

Maintain accurate project drawing files, records, and documentation.

Track and update as-built drawings throughout the project lifecycle.

Read and interpret construction and electrical drawings.

Provide drafting and design support to engineering and project team members.

Incorporate feedback and revisions from senior design staff while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Follow established drafting, documentation, and project standards.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Proficiency with AutoCAD 2014 or newer.

Strong computer skills, including Windows-based software and Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to read and understand construction and electrical drawings.

Reliable, self-driven, and motivated to learn and develop professionally.

Ability to work effectively under supervision and incorporate technical guidance and feedback.

Preferred Qualifications

1 5 years of professional AutoCAD drafting experience, preferably in a construction-related environment.

Experience in electrical, mechanical, or low-voltage construction.

Experience with fire alarm systems, security systems, access control systems, or other low-voltage specialty systems.

Experience preparing or revising construction drawings.

Background working with contractors, system integrators, engineering firms, or similar organizations.

Experience with document control and project file management.

Professional industry drafting experience is preferred over academic or club-based drafting experience.
