About The Role

The Senior Director, Market Access is LRM's senior strategic owner of global market access strategy across the gene therapy portfolio — including ultra-rare disease assets and common-disease assets such as wet AMD. LRM has no market access staff of its own in-market; that work sits within Lilly Value & Access (LV&A, US) and International Value & Access (IVA, OUS/IBU). This role owns the strategy layer neither function is built to solve alone: one cross-asset pricing and contracting logic, and new payment mechanics for one-time curative therapies. It sets the frame that LV&A and IVA then apply and negotiate market by market — without duplicating the in-market negotiation, payer relationship management, or country-level execution those teams already own.

Core Competencies

• Own the Strategy Layer — Set one global pricing, access, and contracting frame for LRM assets and work closely with LV&A and IVA to customize, where needed, by market.
• Pioneer Payment Models — Build Lilly's first playbook for durability-linked and outcomes-based contracts for one-time gene therapies.
• Translate Evidence to Value — Own the strategic value proposition narrative that supports global value dossiers, ultimately localized by LV&A and IVA for payers and HTA bodies.
• Represent LRM Externally — Shape policy and payer precedent for cell and gene therapies, in coordination with Lilly government affairs.
• Safeguard Portfolio Coherence — Ensure cross-asset pricing/contracting consistency and a clear, efficiency ways of working with core partners within LRM and across Lilly.

Responsibilities

Access & Pricing Strategy

• Build one global pricing and access framework — value-driver logic, utility and frame for novel contracting approaches, assumptions driving durability arguments — used across every LRM asset from Phase 2 forward.
• Establish access positioning for each asset ahead of key inflection points (pivotal readout, filing, launch), and align with LV&A and IVA early to ensure positioning is relevant and can be customized locally by market.
• Decide, asset by asset, what elements of a single global position should be maintained (e.g., ultra-rare, single-payer-per-country markets) versus where affiliates need latitude to flex terms locally.
• Determine and partner internally to execute pilots that advance Lilly’s market access capabilities that are applicable across Lilly (including but not limited to LRM).

Novel Payment & Contracting Models (~30%)

• Build Lilly's first standardized playbook for durability-linked and outcomes-based contracts for one-time gene therapies (e.g., contract archetypes, the registry/claims data needed to track re-treatment or loss of effect, and the financial modeling assumptions behind each structure), taking into account and building from existing Lilly and other industry experience.

Payer, HTA, and Health System Engagement

• Own the strategic narrative and evidence prioritization behind each LRM asset's global value dossier (the core value story and HTA submission strategy).
• Represent LRM specifically in external forums shaping how one-time curative therapies get evaluated and paid for (e.g., ICER methods work, Alliance for Regenerative Medicine policy committees), coordinating with central Lilly government affairs so LRM speaks with one position on gene-therapy-specific policy questions.

Organizational Interface

• Serve as the strategic driver through Lilly governance processes on pricing and access at each major gate (e.g., pivotal readout, regulatory filing, launch readiness review).
• Hold single-point accountability for cross-asset consistency — e.g., ensuring wet AMD and an ultra-rare gene therapy don't set pricing or contracting precedents in the same market that create policy risk for each other.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• 10+ years of progressive market access, pricing, or payer strategy experience in biopharma, including direct ownership (not just contribution to) a global or multi-country pricing and access strategy.
• Working knowledge of payer, HTA, and reimbursement systems in major international markets (e.g., US, China, France, Germany, Japan, and UK).
• Demonstrated experience building a pricing, access, or contracting framework from scratch, without an established internal precedent or template to adapt.

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience negotiating or structuring cell or gene therapy access, pricing, or contracting deals.
• Experience partnering with limited-distribution networks or Centers of Excellence in a prior cell/gene therapy launch.
• Experience building a net-new market access capability — i.e., establishing the first version of a process, not scaling an existing one.
• Direct experience negotiating outcomes-based, value-based, or annuity/installment payment structures with a named payer or health system.

Additional Information

• Travel: Est. 10–20%, domestic and international, for payer, HTA, and policy engagement.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

$181,500 - $266,200

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
