Medical AssistantThe Medical Assistant's primary responsibility is to assist in the delivery of health care management for the health center. This will include actively participating and supporting primary clinical teams. The Medical Assistant behaves in a professional manner, and consistently demonstrates and promotes the values of the organization. The Medical Assistant will work with and receive supervision from the Medical Assistant Manager, Health Center Manager and Providers.This position reports to the Medical Assistant Manager or Co-Assistant Manager. No other roles report to this position.While living and demonstrating our Core Values, the Medical Assistant will:Become familiar with provider tendencies and provider's established patient's conditionsDistribute Patient AgendaComplete medication reconciliation every visit, including over the counter medsComplete Family and Social historiesMove patients from waiting room to treatment roomPerform vital signs, acquiring any recent test results, and ascertain reason for visitPrepare patient and gathering all necessary informationReport any changes observed in condition or behavior of patientPrepare room for the practitionerPerform simple procedures according to Wright Center medical policy/proceduresGive inoculations; draw blood, EKGs and /or any other provider requestsParticipate in quality assurance activities to monitor and improve patient care qualityComplete any forms or growth charts as appropriate before practitioner sees patientAssist with examination, diagnostic and treatment proceduresEnter requisitions in EMRPrepare and send out specimensStock treatment rooms and all clinical areas as needed daily; alerting Health Center Manager of any supplies that need to be orderedKeep all exam rooms, hall, and lab area neat and cleanFollow all standing orders as neededFacilitate spirometry, audiometry, BP checks, allergy shots, UA/UC, urine drug screens and other procedures that are necessaryAttend all staff meetingsProvide back-up to other co-workers as necessaryUnderstand and adhere to professional office standardsBe familiar with and implementing all office policies and proceduresParticipate when appropriate in unit-based quality initiativesPerform Laboratory testingMaintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and in compliance with legal regulationsComply with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants, and other hazardous substancesPrepare and administer medications and injections per providerEnsure patients understand health center resources and available programs, such as sliding fee discount program; Good Faith Estimate (GFE); outreach & enrollment programs; language services; after hours coverageEnsure compliance in the following areas: availability and location of SDS binder; availability and location 990 binders for all TWC entities; understanding role and responsibilities in an emergency to help coworkers and patients to safetyMake timely call backs and inform patients of their test resultsWork in close support of health center medical director, physicians, nurses, care manager and other providersBecome familiar with HIPAA policies regarding privacy and security of patient health information that will always be exercised by this positionBe responsible for registering and activating patients on their individual portal accountsAssist and guide patients to troubleshoot issues related to portal usageSchedule patient appointments and follow-up visitsAnswer and return phone callsIntake and check out of patientsEnsure copays are collected at time of visitCreate triages within the EMR systemManage patient information in Electronic Medical Records systemParticipation in rotation of extended access hours including late nights, weekends and holidaysCross coverage of other locations and service lines for continued support and access for patientsPerform other duties as assignedRequirements:Meet The Wright Center for Community Health and its affiliated entity The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education EOS© People Analyzer ToolBuy in and experience working in the EOS® model (strongly preferred)Mission-oriented; represents the enterprise in a professional manner while demonstrating organizational prideMinimum Qualifications of a High School Diploma/GEDBilingual highly desiredExperience as a Medical Assistant in a physician office setting preferredGraduate of a program for Medical Assistant/Administrative Medical Assistant/Nurse Aide requiredBasic Life Support/CPR certification requiredDesignation as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferredAbility to adapt to changing prioritiesAbility to maintain accuracy and compliance with detailed-oriented responsibilitiesAbility to maintain strict confidentialityProficient computer skillsProven proficiency of technology and EMR workflows at the end of orientationMust be reliable and punctualMust have attention to detailMust be able to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with many changing prioritiesMust be professional and customer service oriented to deliver quality excellent careAbility to work independently and with a teamProfessional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skillsWillingness to work a flexible schedule
