Significant experience in Pediatric Emergency Room required.
Experience with triage is necessary.


Description:
All candidates must have experience with both Pediatric and Adult patients.
Roughly 50% of the patient population is Pediatric.
Some nurses will work exclusively in Pediatric ER, some in Adult ER, and some in both.
The Emergency Room has 36 treatment areas for adults and 12 treatment areas for pediatrics.
There are also 8 pods for the fast track area.
Triage is managed by three designated nurses at the start of the day.
Emergency Room RNs manage their own holds.
There are no separate psych/seclusion rooms.
In-house security is available.
The ER sees approximately 325 visits daily across both departments, totaling about 30,000 pediatric cases annually.
ICU ratios are 1:2, Peds 1:4, and Adults 1:4.
Procedural sedation has a 1:1 ratio.
Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, asthma, abdominal pain, fractures, substance abuse, and critical care cases such as STEMI and CVA.
Candidates must have the ability to perform basic EKG interpretations.
Critical care RN roles will involve more advanced interpretation tasks.
The facility utilizes Cerner for charting.
Traveler flexibility is crucial, especially with scheduling, as no block scheduling is available.
There is a requirement for four weekend shifts per month, which can be one per week or two every other week.
Travelers are expected to work during holidays unless the holiday coincides with contracted time off.
There is no call requirement, but standby may occur for low census periods, with a 30-minute response time when called in.
Scrub color for RNs is navy blue, and hoodies or sweat jackets are not permitted.
Cancellation policies allow for up to four shift cancellations per 13-week assignment.
Telehealth services and transport for X-ray or CT are available on site.
Emergency Room staff include nurses, aides, paramedics, and other support roles.
